About Regina Whitesell

Regina’s music experience began at age 2 while singing duets with her dad in church. Regina came from a music-loving family. Whether it was singing in church, or sing-alongs around the piano at Christmas, music was always present. At age 6, Regina began piano lessons under the instruction of Edna Mereness, in Cobleskill, NY. Regina accompanied many concerts, musicals, and performances throughout junior high and high school. She also competed at the A.C.E. State and International Conventions performing piano solos and accompanying small and large group ensembles. At age 13, Regina became the pianist for her local church, accompanying Sunday services, soloists, and choir cantatas.

Regina attended Roberts Wesleyan College from 1999-2003 on a music scholarship. During that time, she studied Piano Performance under the great Dr. Michael Landrum (President of Piano Studies), Piano Accompanying under Ms. Sonja Shelton, Piano Pedagogy under Ms. Jan Nagle, and Vocal Studies under Mr. Christopher Smith & Ms. Constance Fee. During her time at RWC, Regina held a teaching position at the Roberts Wesleyan College Community Music School, and performed as the model pianist for prospective students and touring visitors. In 2000, Regina placed in the top 5 advanced musicians in RWC’s All-instrumental Concerto Competition. In 2001, Regina accompanied the RWC Elite Chamber Singers on their New York City tour, under the direction of Dr. Robert Shewan. In 2003, Regina graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Piano Performance, full-scale certification in Piano Pedagogy, and a minor in Vocal Studies. Regina was commissioned to perform at the RWC Baccalaureate as her farewell performance at RWC.

Since 2003, Regina (“Ms. Gina”) has been operating her own in-home piano lesson service while also holding teaching positions at Costello Studios & St. Mary’s Elementary School (Rochester, NY), Cedar Grove Christian Academy (Philadelphia, PA), Music & Arts Center (Willow Grove, PA), Music Training Center (Malvern, PA), and the Music Studio of Patricia Keith (Boyertown, PA). Several of Regina’s former students have gone on to complete degrees in Music Education, Music Media, Music in Religion, Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance.

In August of 2018, Regina was excited to open My Piano Place, in Boyertown, PA. The studio offers comprehensive piano training through private and group piano instruction for all ages and stages. It is Regina’s greatest desire to offer a space where every child is given the tools to grow as a musician, opportunities to build self-confidence, and the freedom to learn at their own pace. She strongly believes in the value of music training for all ages, and is committed to providing an authentic and original lesson experience.

After 3 wonderful years at the studio on 9 S. Washington Street in Boyertown, My Piano Place has moved to Regina’s in-home studio in Gilbertsville. The new space offers plenty of parking, a separate entrance, and a spacious waiting area for families.
